HighWire at the Big Bang

HighWire visited the Big Bang science fair to demonstrate a particle accelerator simulator for kids!

Ever wondered how the Large Hadron Collider works?

Visitors at the Big Bang Science Fair had the opportunity to try out an interactive particle accelerator simulator that attempts to replicate some of the research being done by Physics staff at Lancaster University.

The Big Bang is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths for young people in the UK. The event is aimed at showing young people (primarily aged 7-19) just how many exciting and rewarding opportunities there are out there for them with the right experience and qualifications.

Below is a short video which shows the making of the Lancaster University particle accelerator simulator! This is now housed in the Physics Department at Lancaster University. It uses the Ubi Displays toolkit developed by HighWire DTC student John Hardy.
